Experiences, Section 14 This went on for several months, and each time some pattern came. I had to go to work exercising my mind according to the directed pattern to win the battle or accomplish what I was required to do. There was a very real threat of evil being sent my way, and a very definite responsibility I felt to throw this evil off of me and the world. James Farrell wrote in one of his letters that I was of cloth to follow in the Savior's footsteps. And I thought during that period of trial, that I had read when the sins of the world had passed through the Savior, he suffered taking on the sins of the world and throwing them off or the world would have been blighted. The light of the sun would have been darkened on the earth. Something like a cloud between the earth and sun. I felt on the same order, where all the sacrifices of the servants of God were necessary, including mine. If I didn't succeed in throwing off the evil, the world would lose it's place to another world in competition to this one; and go slowly go down into darkness and eventual dissolvement. I thought that could happen to the world, that it was all on me at that particular time. My heart was very heavy at the possibility. And my thoughts at times were that everybody was working to preserve the world. |
