ISSUE VII                                                      DECEMBER 2003

A Prophet

That apostle in the Bible referred to by the Savior as "the disciple whom Jesus loved" (John 21:20) still walks the earth, doing works of righteousness, preparing mankind for the Second Coming of the Lord. A man who has been translated and was at one time taken into heaven to see many things concerning future events on the earth; a man who has therefore made many great prophecies concerning our generation (Bible, Book of Revelations, etc.). A man who is a true prophet of the Lord, one who can be relied on to be a spokesman for God. A man who asked for and received a tremendous burden in the responsibility of doing the work of the Lord to prepare mankind; a man who has no time to spare for the foolish nonsense so prevalent in the thinking of the people of this world’s generation."Cursed are all those that shall lift up the heel against mine anointed, saith the Lord.."(Doctrine and Covenants, 121:16).

Those who have encountered John the Revelator have encountered a man with an accumulation of more than 2000 years of experiences on earth, giving him an exceedingly vast wisdom of earthly things, besides that which has been bestowed upon him from the Lord. He is a man speaking peculiar religious parables which nonetheless contain much in priceless wisdom, and this spokesman for the Lord has let it be known information of a serious nature pertaining to this time and members of God’s Holy Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And those who loudly proclaim "Follow the Prophet" need take heed of their own advice, lest their fates be cast among the hypocrites, for the Lord has said, "hypocrites are the worst of all sinners"; and many words there are spoken in the scriptures of the hypocrites in the LDS Church of this day:

(Isaiah) CHAPTER 33: Apostasy and wickedness precede the Second Coming-

"WOE to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered. And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them. The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure. Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man." (Old Testament | Isaiah 33:1-8)

"The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites." ( Isaiah 33:14)

We are witnessing a time of great turmoil in the world today, with many conflicts and wars and rumors of wars, as well as the battle between diametrically opposed forces of many differing opinions, many of which consciously and sub-consciously enter into conspiracies with others of like minded agendas to define and write different versions of the history of our times’ significant events. Our country so powerful yet never more vulnerable. Those who are victorious in gaining sway with the popular masses will ultimately have power to determine the survival of a nation. The battle between the truth of God and the crafty deception of Satan has never been a more serious issue facing the existence of mankind. That which the majority chooses to believe will become a self-fulfilling prophecy whether it has a basis in truth or not.

Our country is now reeling from the treachery that has been occurring in our United States Supreme Court, which reverberates throughout our judicial system, to cite foreign laws as sources in supporting their decisions. By rejecting the greater light of that Constitution that was inspired of God, our country’s liberties are now subverted to lesser reasoning. Coinciding with a promotion of a terrorist mentality, the extremist viewpoints within our country seek to redefine and rewrite our divinely inspired Constitution, and many of our people subsequently reject those sacred instincts instilled in us by God, from which we know we should uphold the value of innocent human life. And those causes in our society planted by Satan gain support, such as protecting rocks and barren landscape even at the expense of human life itself, providing tremendous sources of distraction to the real crisis of mankind’s wickedness, of which current condition threatens even the very survival of mankind. The scourge of Satan’s reasoning that is now sweeping our country is clearly forming a rift that indicates little hope of being repaired without a miraculous return of a vast number of people to righteousness. Evil seeks to equate American principles of liberty and justice and freedom to worship God as no different in worthiness than the values of other countries, ruled by tyrannical regimes. As in wars past, brave American patriots have continued to show their willingness to give their lives in heroic fashion on the battlefield to protect the sacred principles of the Constitution which has governed us, but the new century has seen a different perspective emerge on war.

Should evil win in the battle to define America, many on the side of evil hope that the conclusion will be reached that the values that America has previously stood for are no better than those of other countries, even those countries we have sought to liberate from tyrants. Those who are scoffers seem to be rewarded, and they who join forces to shout down truth and prevent intelligent examination seem to be protected, turning a blind eye to abuses of power inflicted on the masses, and condone elected leaders passing corrupt laws which deliberately ignore that which has been disproved, to poison the innocent against their will. A choice and beautiful country with the responsibility to be an example of goodness and light unto the world, now reeling with attacks from enemies both foreign and domestic. Now our freedoms and liberties and even our cherished country itself are in jeopardy.

Yet there was a people who were blessed of the Lord with the power to do something. There was a people that dwelt therein the country, with access and possession of the power and True Priesthood of God. A people who cower at the memory of the truth and true heritage and calling of their church, but who nonetheless live privileged lives off of the spoils of sacrifices of the people whose efforts helped restore the Gospel in this last dispensation. But to avoid the tide of abyss stirred up by the wicked, they choose to befriend and partake of the wicked practices of our day, in exchange for the mere price of betraying and stonewalling the gallant cause of truth. "For All is well in Zion, for we partake of these things and our lots are cast with those from whom we seek flattery."

The Mormon church, which has been in possession of tremendous knowledge and light to benefit the world, has largely failed in its mission to spread the true gospel. Having taken this wrong turn now causes those considered valiant among this people to stumble in the dark, not knowing where the true battle is in good verses evil; so frequently those with good intentions lash out at both good and evil indiscriminately, but not knowing for sure who, where, or what is the enemy; for this people, in their clouded state of thinking and according to their own free agency abandoned the truth of God and chose the easy path. "And after they had tasted of the fruit they were ashamed, because of those that were scoffing at them; and they fell away into forbidden paths and were lost". (Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 8:28)

And now it is common knowledge that there is a real enemy which has already caused much harm and threatens all that is precious, and now our country is in the midst of great perils of wickedness. Had there been valiancy among this people for the causes of truth, our cherished country would receive the Lord’s divine protection; for He will spare an entire people when the righteous are among them performing good works in His name to turn hearts to God. But the people chose to hate His word and His Truth and chose the more well traveled path of the world, and cast out those precious things which make the Lord’s people worthy of His countless blessings. A people like the Jews of old, with the free agency to choose good or evil, and in possession of the power to stand for valiant truth with God behind them, should they so choose. To be a guiding light in morals and truth and with power from the Lord to help preserve our cherished liberties. Millions have there been with knowledge of and access to God’s Holy Priesthood Powers, an access to that discernment which brings light and truth and which recognizes and opposes wickedness. The LDS Church, which has been in possession of tremendous knowledge and light to benefit the world, has largely failed in its mission to spread the true gospel, which would have deterred the present condition of darkness and confusion engulfing many in our nation, and would have promoted a clear understanding of true knowledge itself. Yet they turn the other way, content with riches and false security while disgracing the memory of those early Mormons who paved the way for their good fortune. It is a people in a state of denial, even in the face of well chronicled and publicized proof they have foolishly been led astray by men who claim to be prophets, selling the honor of Church heritage in their trust to seek after and build up works of petty forgers such as Mark Hoffman.

John the Revelator is a true prophet. His assessment of the wickedness which has gained control of the people of the LDS Church is not a message to be taken lightly. When he came to instruct a young man he showed him of the doings of Satan’s followers; how they infiltrate all religions and organizations, and how they seek total control. And how they have been gaining complete control of the Mormon Church, and work to destroy the truth that is still left in it; how their works have been to control the music performed in church services, how they have systematically been replacing the older spiritual Mormon hymns and replacing them with mournful music of a stagnate spirit. He stated he listened to the sermons in the Tabernacle on Temple Square, and "it comes from their lips, not their hearts." He showed the young servant a Sunday morning program of music performed while they were at the tabernacle and pointed out how much of the music is newer, yet certain original hymns such as "Come, Come, Ye Saints" are still included and left in Mormon hymn books to keep the sinister plan from becoming too obvious. After showing the young man many of the things over which Satan has gained control, he tells him to "be sure to put out what you have received."

The words of a true prophet concerning present conditions are very serious. A people which claims to seek and follow after a true prophet must take heed to the message brought about from this true prophet and come down to the depths of humility so that there can be true repentance. Judgements come soon to destroy the wicked, and the message of a true prophet must be heeded. It is time for the people to awake; the works of Satan among the church people will not be ignored much longer. The foolishness and silliness that pervades today’s people of the LDS Church is an affront to the Lord. Amidst the wicked practices of this people a serious need for sobriety is required - then repentance - before there is any hope for this people to be saved. When John the Revelator pays a visit, he has no time for nonsense of any sort. Those who will learn from the words of the Lord’s servant must be in a humbled state of mind, yearning for the Lord’s truth at any price.

We are now witnessing an all out assault on everything sacred in the Mormon religion, for that crafty and cunning one who is the Devil, realizes his time grows shorter to perform his works, and soon all will be exposed for the world to see. The corruption of the Holy Church cannot stand much longer; the Lord Himself has expressed his displeasure with the people of His Church. An unrepentant people now in a state of denial that their leaders led them astray by following after a petty forger, today continue in the spirit of that man whose works publicly signaled an all out assault on Church history. And now it is up to the people of the House of Israel, the American Indians, to come to a knowledge of the plan of redemption God has laid out for them.

Jesus said, "I pray not for the world, but for them that thou hast given me..." John 17:9 The Lamanites converted in the Book of Mormon were some of the most righteous people that ever lived. The American Indians, those who possess the royal bloodlines of Israel and the priesthood by lineage, are prophesied to be restored to their covenant blessings, and it is the only hope of those of us identified with the Gentiles, that the American Indian people will soon unite together in strength to save God’s Holy Church from its polluted condition and fulfill those prophecies promised to come to pass. For the power to preserve our liberties and freedom and defeat evil in this precious country has always been in our midst, with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but the Word of the Lord has been rejected by these people and shut off from the noble people of this country who would have received it, had the cause of valiancy for truth been pursued over the years. But the people entrusted with knowledge of God and have hated the truth and therefore have hated the work and plan of the Lord Himself. And now we are left to pray that God’s covenant people -the American Indians will soon become fully convinced of the truth and fulness of the Gospel that has gone forth among them, after having now been taken from the Gentiles, so that as prophesied in the Book of Mormon they may come together in tremendous power and rise as a tremendous people and be held in awe before all of the peoples of the world, which prophecy God himself has promised will come to pass. "But behold, my brethren, is it expedient that I should awake you to an awful reality of these things? Would I harrow up your souls if your minds were pure? Would I be plain unto you according to the plainness of the truth if ye were freed from sin?

"Behold, if ye were holy I would speak unto you of holiness..." 2 Nephi 9:47 - 48

The Following Questions Are Posed to All Who Consider Themselves to be Latter-day Saints:

>> Do you not realize?

-How serious the Mormon religion is.

-What a serious affront it is to the Lord to treat any of the Gospel principles or anything pertaining to the Latter-day-Saint Church lightly.

-That your calling in your various church positions simply means you have agreed to be held more accountable than those who are ignorant, and should you fail in this work and if you do not honor your obligation to spread truth and the Lord’s Gospel principles, it will be counted toward your damnation.

-You should not be using the Holy Church of God as a plaything.

-The people of the LDS Church need to stop falsely accusing Joseph Smith.

-Your approach should be one of soberness concerning all things pertaining to the Holy Church.

-That Joseph Smith kept us all from being cut off , and you should be defending his innocence and his honor as he would himself from his enemies slander, to preserve this great work.

-You need to read King Benjamin in Book of Mosiah, Chapter 3, and learn of a righteous people, a people exceedingly more righteous than the people of today; a people falling to the ground in fear, when humbled to awake to a sense of their own nothingness in the sight of God.

-That we must be righteous to prevent (as in D&C 98) "all flesh from being consumed," and all future eternity is at stake

-It is the duty of all who have access to gospel knowledge to keep it alive in a very sober sense

-This generation of LDS people has lost all concept of what kind of honorable man Joseph Smith really was. Up until the twentieth century Joseph Smith’s honor within the church was defended vigorously, for there were people alive that knew the man Joseph Smith, and even Church members a generation later defended Joseph Smith against slanderous tales, as there were men who could instantly recognize the foolishness and falsehood of anti-Mormon stories.

-The Holy Priesthood of the Lord is an onerous burden to carry; it is not by any means a badge of status or worldly honor, and all who have been ordained have agreed to take on a tremendous burden of accountability for the ignorance of the world should they fail to live up to its calling.

-In those times where scriptural history teaches us that the large part of the Lord’s people became very wicked, without exception, the large part of the people were subsequently destroyed through the judgements of God (Ether, Chapter 13)

-The promise in the Book of Mormon is that if you do what the Lord commands in all things you have a claim upon him, otherwise you have no claim.

There are descendants of the early pioneers who know what kind of intelligent men and women the early Mormons were, and know that they were of such intelligence and character that they would not have followed Joseph Smith if he were the man portrayed to be by the current LDS Church. They were not like new generations of Mormons which came in later - building their advantage off of the sacrifices of early church people and early church leaders. The nonsense teachings of today could never be slipped past men like John Taylor. Instead, a jealous and haughty people seek to trample under their feet and reconstruct a history to bring shame upon all who would like to call themselves Saints. Joseph Smith’s reaction to the LDS Church ways could be no different than that of Moses when he returned from Mt. Sinai and found the Israelites in a condition of depravity and wickedness - there is no difference between the current Mormon people and the early Israelites who rebelled against the teachings of God when Moses was away for a short time, other than that the wickedness among today’s Mormons has been festering for years and generations, rather than days and weeks.

"Albeit, in these days of the greater power of Satan among men, multitudes there are who are caught in the strong delusion, that a mental self_denial of Sin, will have the effect of cleansing the soul and washing men white within. But I say unto you, that no man is able to silence or deny away forever, the conscience of the soul, by his own power or by the will of another; but only for the brief moment wherein the arch_deceiver is permitted to exercise his power to bind the minds of men."

"And behold, they are: but thieves and robbers who seek to enter in by any other way. For they cannot enter into the rest of God when they repudiate the law and reject the conditions set at the door of the kingdom of God; wherein they make themselves rebels against God. And thus it is they become thieves and robbers, seeking to secure unto themselves, by stealth, and not by obedience, the abundant riches of heaven hereafter."

In The Book of Mormon, in Mormon 8, verse 38; the question is asked:

"Oh ye pollutions, ye hypocrites, ye teachers, who sell yourselves for that which will canker, why have ye polluted the holy church of God?"

Who is the Lord referring to in this Quote? Who can pollute the holy church of God? Only those that profess to belong to it can pollute it. According to Websters Dictionary– Pollute 1. To make foul or unclean......2. to defile, or make morally unclean."

Much has been done to pollute His holy church. And it seems apparent that in the last few years a redoubled and desperate effort has assailed the very bastions of the Mormon faith. This has been done by the ravening wolves in sheep’s clothing, who claim to be the meek and humble followers of Joseph Smith; these are they who are some of the Leaders and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints!

What have we done to pollute His holy church they ask?

1. Doctrine and Covenants 132; verse 27.... "The blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, which shall not be forgiven in the world nor out of the world, is in that ye commit murder wherein ye shed innocent blood, and assent unto my death, after ye have received my new and everlasting covenant, saith the Lord God; and he that abideth not this law can in nowise enter into my glory, but shall be damned saith the Lord." One of the ten commandments is "Thou shalt not kill".

Who is more innocent that the little defenseless unborn babies? The senseless wholesale slaughter of thousands of these precious little babes every year in the State of Utah alone, not counting the one and a half million per year in the nation is a crime so horrible that in future centuries our era will be classified as the most barbaric and wicked of all time, far more than even the dark ages. But we are against abortion they say. Yes in the art of double speak, a translation of the official statement of the church says; we are against abortion in all cases...except all cases. Senator Orrin Hatch- Quote " that is a statement that you could drive a truck through." COUNTLESS ABORTIONS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD THEY STOOD VALIANTLY AND STRONGLY AGAINST THE EVIL OF THESE ABORTIONS. But alas, many babies have died violent deaths because of church sanctioned abortions. Those that have participated in this, one of two crimes in the Mormon faith, for which there is no forgiveness, in full knowledge, are murderers with the blood of this generation staining their garments. These are they who have no place in the House of the Lord. These are they who have spread this vile, pernicious, and disgusting practice among the youth, who walk in all piety through the halls of the Temples, these are the hypocrites, the worst of all sinners.

2. "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." (Websters definition of Vain: "improper or irreverent manner").

So what does this mean, profanity? Yes, and much more; Satan uses the following as a cover for his most sinister evil works: jokes, giddy stories, any irreverent mention, any fictitious work, volumes upon volumes of historical fiction, cartoon images, radio advertisements and movies, all have a deleterious effect upon ones soul, wherein the Lords name is taken in vain. Cartoon images of the entire religion are spoon fed to the children on a daily basis, the thinking is that it will help them learn about the religion, but in reality, all it does is dull the senses, and instill a comical cartoon image of the religion upon children that can’t differentiate between the two.

When these children grow up, they are then fed these historical fiction "Work and the Glory" type of books. These accomplish several goals. They fatten the pocket book of their authors who by selling their religion for money, are selling their souls for that which cankers. This spoon feeds the masses, who spend hours reading these, neglecting the real works and in turn base all of their knowledge upon these fictitious works and interpretations of man. These historical vain interpretations of man make light of all of the early sacred and holy things, the sobriety and sincerity, the suffering of the people and make a mockery of the early founders of this church. The radio, and TV adds portray ideal families of the upper classes as only the drunkards of Ephraim could do. With much silliness, and a peculiar giddiness that borders on being intoxicated, they devalue rational thinking with such phrases as "family", or "a thought from...", or "give up your baby", etc." Most decent people are appalled at these silly blasphemous advertisements.

3. " Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Fifty eight pentagrams have been placed in and on the restored Nauvoo Temple. This has no precedence in the Mormon Church. Pentagrams represent Satan. Are those who rebuilt and worship in this temple putting Satan before God?

4. There are the revisionists who are busily trying to rewrite Church history to implicate Joseph Smith as a user of witchcraft, pentagrams, etc.

5. Adorning their churches and squandering millions from hard earned tithe payers such as widows and orphans on lavish buildings and investments.

6. Taking away, and even forbidding the singing of specific selections of old spiritual music, that God says was a prayer of the heart to him, and replacing it with lifeless uninspiring music that comes from the works of men. It is well known that people can be controlled by the music that they are given.

7. Neglecting the spiritual nourishment of the youth, Church meetings are dull and lifeless. The young people are left to gain knowledge through un-inspirational venues. Taking away the uplifting spirituality leaves a vacuum that needs to be filled by something else. God says to "feed my sheep"

8. Of losing sight of one of the most important missions that the Mormon Church had, which was the preaching to and converting the Lamanites to the religion of their fathers. That the Mormons might help them realize the true potential of their blessings. That the Mormons would be penitent and seek to be numbered with the house of Israel(The American Indians). According to the Book of Mormon the fulness of the gospel has been taken from the Mormons and given to the Lamanites, whether they are aware of it or not(Third Nephi 16,verses 10-11) . The Mormons have lost God’s power and it is now with the Lamanties. According to what is written (Third Nephi 16, verse 13), the only hope that the Mormon people have is to repent and be numbered with the Lamanites.

9. The early leaders of the Mormon religion were not the quaint hillbilly simpletons that modern day historians, authors and others are trying to portray. They were not the superstitious bumpkins that believed in folk magic and other silly fanciful concoctions of historical fiction that of late fills the bookstores and overwhelms the senses ad nauseam . Quite the contrary, if one compares the numerous speeches recorded in the twenty six volumes of the Journal of Discourses, realizing that all of these speeches were extemporaneous, that is, they didn’t use notes, cue cards, Teleprompters, earphones, scriptwriters, or any other modern day crutch or aid. The old leaders spoke of solid gospel principles, some of these subjects were quite complex, while other subjects dealt with the true Christian principles of everyday life. The early leaders of the Mormon Church were pragmatic, intelligent, dynamic, charismatic, manly, apostolic and righteous as evidenced by the voluminous records of their speeches. They never used fictitious stories or quoted some modern secular song for their inspiration. The principles that they espoused sometimes would thunder from the pulpit, and at other times would be like a still small voice that pierced through to even the hardest heart. They never read their speeches with the soft affected tones of the hypocrite. The speeches given came from the spiritual heart of the early leaders, not from the dry, uninspired minds of the modern day Church officials.

10. It is very necessary that the truth and spirit of the of the early Mormon Heritage of the Gospel as taught by Joseph Smith be kept alive. Joseph Smith said that any man that taught any different doctrine in the Church than him would be cursed. Who still has that early pioneer spirit of the Mormon Church and is still keeping it alive? Not those that allow abortions, or believed in the Hofmann forgeries, or those that make the poor people out to be the bad ones and the rich people to be the good ones. Not those who accepted President Hinckley’s 1998 statement in that he denounced polygamy and said that there was no doctrinal proof of it being correct, and that it was evil. Not those who have been replacing the prayer of the heart - the old Mormon music - with their present lifeless music, nor those that accept the silly television and radio "family"ads that promote a soap opera version of a family. Not those who build up that which is not realistic and gives no comfort to the brokenhearted and downtrodden - who need to be spiritually fed with words of comfort - and not to those who are liars slanderers and backbiters whose spirit is from the depths of hell.

Quote by Joseph Smith "I want to stick to my text, to show that when men open their lips against these truths they do not injure me, but injure themselves. To the law and to the testimony, for these principles are poured out all over the Scriptures. When things that are of the greatest importance are passed over by the weak-minded men without even a thought, I want to see truth in all its bearings and hug it to my bosom. I believe all that God ever revealed, and I never hear of a man being damned for believing too much; but they are damned for unbelief."

Quote of the Month

- Teachings in the Mormon Church on the Prophet John the Revelator:

Journal of Discourses : 26 : Orson F. Whitney 1885/06/21 : 266

" But one of these original Apostles was left. The Latter_day Saints are taught that Jesus, on a certain occasion, speaking to the Twelve, wished to bestow upon them each a gift, to grant the desire of their hearts, and He asked them what they would He should do for them. They all but one requested to be taken home to Him in heaven when they should have filled the allotted age of man. But one turned away sorrowful, feeling that the wish he cherished in his heart was too great to be granted. Peter asked the Savior, "What shall this man do?" and received the reply, "If I will that he tarry till I come what is that to thee?" "Then when this saying abroad among the brethren that that disciple should not die." It is vaguely given, I admit, in the Bible from which I have quoted, but modern revelation has made it plainer, and shown us that the Apostle John obtained a promise from the Savior that he should remain upon the earth to witness the downfall and the rise of nations, that he should live to perform a mighty mission in the midst of the children of men; that he should prophesy before kings and rulers, and should tarry upon the earth until the Son of God came in His glory. This Apostle was the only one who escaped the tragic fate of his fellows. He was the only one of the original Twelve who was not put to death. An attempt was made upon his life by throwing him into a cauldron of boiling oil, but he escaped miraculously, and his enemies, not having the power to put him to death, banished him to the desert island of Patmos. It was during his exile upon his lonely spot, that God condescended to reveal to him what should come to pass in the last days, and the book which is called the Apocalypse is a record which the Apostle left of the great things that were shown him, and which he should remain upon the earth to see. An angel appeared unto him; John mistook him, it seems, for the Lord, and fell down at his feet to worship him, his person was so glorious. But the angel reproved him and said, "See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow_servant and of thy brethren the prophets." Here was one of the prophets who had been slain for the testimony of Jesus, who was so glorious when he appeared that John, who perhaps had labored with him, did not recognize him. He had been sent unto him to show him what should come to pass thereafter.

"But not only was John shown what should occur after the time in which he was living, but he was shown what had already taken place; not as the imperfect records of profane history have given it to us, but he saw it typified in its fullness. The events of the seven thousand years of the world's temporal existence passed before him, like the scenes of a mighty panorama. If you will read the book which he left, you will there find portrayed symbolically each of the seven thousand years. He saw the events which had followed the creation down until one period had passed; he then saw the events of the second thousand years or until two periods has passed, and then the third and the fourth periods, at the end of which Jesus came as the Savior of mankind, to perform a personal work in the flesh. John saw, further, the events of the fifth thousand years. He saw the great apostacy that was to take place in the Christian church, when they put to death every inspired man; when they did away with the gifts and blessings of the Holy Ghost; when they said they were no longer necessary; when they engrafted upon the olive tree of the Christian faith the wild branches of paganism. He saw all this taking place down to the sixth thousand years, and after the world had wandered in darkness for centuries, he says.

"And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting Gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation and kindred, and tongue, and people.

"Saying with a loud voice, fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters."

"Showing conclusively, as well as language can show, that this was to be an event of the last days__the hour of God's judgment, which Christianity itself, in its perverted state, will admit is at the end of the world. John saw the angel restoring the Gospel shortly before the hour of God's judgment, saying with a loud voice to all nations, kindreds, tongues and peoples__not only to the heathen nations, but to those who professed to have the true Christian faith__"Fear God, and give glory to Him, for the hour of his judgment is come." This to us is another proof of the apostasy of the Christian world; for if they had the truth, as they claim, by apostolic succession, from St. Peter down to the present day__what need of restoring the Gospel in its fullness to preach to them? It would be superfluous, unnecessary, a work of supererogation, to preach to those who were living in the full blaze of Gospel light, and call upon them to repent of their sins.

"I never like to wound people's feelings in regard to religious matters. I never like to have my own feelings wounded. I try to have charity for the sincere sentiments of all men; but it is needful that the truth be spoken in plainness. It is no act of friendship to flatter, to deceive and to gloss over error, when by exposing it the souls of some honest people may be saved. The Latter_day Saints erect a nobler structure before they tear down that which is old. They do not wish to ridicule the opinions of their fellow creatures, it should never be done except where good will be the result. All men have the right to believe as they please. They have a right to worship where, how and what they please. God has made us free. We are in bondage to no man, to no power. His children, from the rising to the setting of the sun have been made free. Therefore I do not feel to ridicule the religion of my Christian friends; but I desire to lay before them and before this congregation the religion of the Latter_day Saints. We claim that the Christian world is in a state of apostasy, and though thousands and millions of them are perfectly sincere__just as sincere in their belief as we are in ours__still, it devolves upon me as a servant of God to preach what I know to be the truth, and you can take your choice whether you accept or reject it. The responsibility ends with me here; it is assumed by those who listen, who can act as they feel led; they give heed to the warning message, or whether they ignore and reject it.

"At any rate John saw the time when an angel would come and restore the everlasting Gospel__not another Gospel, not various kinds of gospels, not the precepts and fables of men, but the good, old, "sound doctrine" of ancient times. The Gospel of Christ in its fullness was to be preached to all the nations of the earth. What for? To fulfill the prediction of the son of God, who said that "this Gospel of the kingdom"__that Gospel which had Apostles to preach it and Prophets; which had gifts and miracles and signs following; a gospel of faith, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, and other principles to be revealed one after another as fast as the people were able to receive them__that this old original Gospel of the kingdom should come back to the earth to be preached as a witness unto all nations, and then should the end come.

"It is a merciful characteristic of our Heavenly Father that He brings to pass upon the human family no event affecting their eternal welfare, but He first sends Prophets to prepare the way, to give the people a warning that such and such things are coming to pass, that they may caught napping by the suddenness of their coming, even as a thief in the night. We read that as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man. What was done in the days of Noah? A prophet__Noah himself__was raised up and sent forth to preach a warning message to the children of men. What was his warning? That the world was about to be deluged. Its sins had cried unto heaven, and God had remembered its iniquities. He was about to baptize the earth in water, to wash away its sins, that they should no longer smoke to heaven, an offering of wrath to an offended God. Noah preached this warning, and, as usual, was met with ridicule and scorn. Never did a prophet come forth that was not ridiculed and persecuted, and the message that he proclaimed considered foolishness by the wisdom of the world. But how did it result? Did the superior (?) wisdom of the world in that day save them from the truth of the words of Noah? Or did God stand by that prophet? Did He make good His words? Did He drown the world? Did He sweep the wicked from its surface? History will tell you what took place. It sees that Noah and the few souls that clung to him were right, and the world at large were in the wrong. Noah had really received a revelation from God. He was pointed at, despised and derided, doubtless called visionary and fanatic, an old fool, or anything else; but he had received a revelation and God made good the words which he proclaimed.

"The earth underwent a baptism by being immersed in water, for the remission of sins, the washing away of its iniquities. "As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man." Is the world to be deluged in water again? No; because God gave a promise to Noah and set his bow in the clouds as a sign that the world should never again be drowned in water; but in the days of coming of the Son of Man it will receive the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost. John the Baptist said: "There cometh one mightier than I, after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. I indeed have baptized you with water: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire." Not only man, but the earth itself, which is a living creature, must undergo this ordinance__this dual baptism, and Jesus, when He comes in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, to take vengeance upon those who know not God, who have not sought to know Him, who have persecuted His people, and set aside the Gospel as a thing of naught, will deluge the earth with fire and the Holy Ghost. Then will the Scriptures be fulfilled which say that the glory of God shall radiate from the rivers to the ends of the earth.

"Nor is this all. The earth and its elements will melt, as Peter the Apostle said, "with fervent heat, and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts." These things are coming to pass. God only has to turn upon this world the glory of His presence to consume it from before His face and cause it to vanish like chaff in a flame. We are not prepared for the glory of His coming. But this work which has been established in our day, is one that will prepare us for His glorious advent. All who believe and are baptized into this Church have been promised the gift of the Holy Ghost. What is the Holy Ghost? It is the Spirit of God. God dwells in the pure element of fire; it is the atmosphere which the holy angels, the spirits of the just, the Gods in eternity breathe and live within, but which would consume us if we came too suddenly upon it, or it upon us. We must needs approach it gradually. We read that in the days of Moses, when God wished to commune with him, He called him up into a high mountain, and filled him with the Holy Ghost. Moses, therefore, could endure His presence; but when he came down from the Mount his face shone like an angel's, and he had to put a vail upon it lest the children of Israel should be consumed before him. This shows what we may expect when God comes in the clouds of heaven, if we do not rid ourselves of iniquity and prepare our souls to meet Him. But ere that day comes there shall be wars and rumors of wars, thunders and lightnings, famines and pestilences; the sea shall heave itself beyond its bounds, and all things shall he [sic] in commotion; the sun shall be darkened, the moon shall be turned to blood, and the stars shall fall from heaven like figs from off a fig tree. The judgments of God shall stalk through the earth, decimating the human race, before the great day of the Lord shall come.

"Are we to suppose that in a day like this, when such mighty and terrible things are coming upon the earth, God would leave the world in darkness; that he would shut the heaven, as our Christian friends say He has done; and send forth no more prophets to prepare us for these great events which are at our doors? I for one would have a very poor opinion of a God who would leaven His children in that cruel manner. But the God we worship is just and merciful. He never brings upon the earth any judgment but He sends first a warning message to prepare the people for its coming.

"This is our warning to_day__that the Gospel of the kingdom is being preached unto all nations as a witness, and then the hour of God's judgment, or the predicted end of the world shall come. It is a message of mercy, not one of anger, not one of cruelty. It is not cruel to tell men the truth. If we see a man on the brink of a precipice and tell him that if he takes another step forward he will be dashed to pieces, is that cruelty, or is it charity of the truest kind? It may humiliate him to be told of his danger; it may cast reflection upon his eyesight; he may not see the precipice; men do not always see things which are immediately near them; they who are at a distance sometimes observe the danger first and given warning. It is not uncharitable, it is not intolerant to tell men the truth; we must sometimes be cruel in order to be kind; and hurt men's feelings if necessary in order to save their souls. I do not mean the saving of their souls by the killing of their bodies. Heretics used to be punished on that theory. The object of "Mormonism" is to save the body and the spirit, which together constitute the soul.

"This is the message we bring, the olive branch that we extend to the world, and for so doing we are despised and persecuted and trampled upon. But we know that we need expect no different fate from that which our predecessors have experienced. They laid down their lives in preaching this same Gospel. We must be willing to lay down ours, if need be, to establish these truths upon the earth.

"God does not punish except to save, He never chastens except to purify. In sweeping the antediluvian races from the earth, it was an act of mercy to them, that they might not add sin to sin and heap up iniquity until they could not have been pardoned. He swept them off when their cup was full, and imprisoned their spirits while their bodies mouldered in the grave. Jesus, however, while His body was lying in the tomb, went and preached to the spirits in prison; those who rejected the message that was offered to them by Noah, and were swept away by the flood. So it will be in this day, if this message is rejected; God will bring judgments upon the world until He has humbled the people to a state where they will be glad to receive it. He says to His Elders: Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature; and after your testimony, comes the testimony of earthquakes and tempests, of thunders and lightnings, of the sea heaving itself beyond its bounds, of wars and rumors of wars, of famine and pestilence. Says He, the time shall come when he that will not take up his sword against his neighbor must needs flee unto Zion for safety, for there shall be gathered to it of every nation under heaven, and they shall be the only people who are not at war one with another.

"It is that the world may escape these terrible judgments and plagues that will desolate the wicked, that we put our lives and liberties in jeopardy in preaching that which is unpopular, and which brings upon us the wrath and hatred of the world. We desire, as much as men can desire, the salvation of our fellow_men. Our mission is to save, not to condemn. This is the Gospel of salvation, not a Gospel of damnation. Damnation follows as a necessary alternative of the rejection of the truth. Men who reject the truth damn themselves. The man who will shut the door in his own face keeps himself out from the Kingdom: it is nobody's fault but his own. The waters of life are free; come and partake of them, without money and without price! If you will not partake of them, how can you blame any one but yourself if you die of thirst in the desert? If you put out the light by persecuting the Saints of God, how can you blame anybody but yourself if you are left in darkness? Could the ancients blame God for taking His Church from the earth, when they took every pains to exterminate it? They destroyed the body of the Church, and the spirit departed, just as naturally as when the body of a man is killed; his spirit has no louger [sic] any business upon the earth. It returns to God who gave it, to come again at a more auspicious time, with the Son of God in clouds of glory, provided it be one of the 144,000 faithful ones who follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth.

"If condemnation follows the rejection of the Gospel, God cannot help it, His servants cannot help it. If we invite men to come out into the sunlight and they prefer to stay in the shade, who is to blame but themselves? They prefer darkness to light. They have their choice. Light has burst forth in the midst of darkness, but the darkness comprehendeth it not. Men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil. If, however, we extend the message of mercy and of peace, our responsibility ends. Men will be judged by the light they possess. The heathen nations will be redeemed and will obtain a higher exaltation than those who receive the truth and turn away from it, or refuse to accept it when it is offered to them. God is merciful to ignorance and lack of opportunity; but responsibility rests like a mountain upon those who hear the truth and then reject it.

"My testimony to this congregation is that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of the living God; that Brigham Young was a Prophet of God; That John Taylor is their legally ordained successor; that there are Prophets and Apostles in this Church to_day; that we preach the same Gospel that was preached in the days of Paul, for if we preached any other we should be accursed. My testimony is that "Mormonism" stigmatized and hated as it is, is the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the only plan of life and salvation, the only one that will exalt man in the presence of God; and the world reject it to their condemnation. I pray God to bless this congregation, and grant that the words I have spoken may sink into some honest hearts, like good seed upon fertile soil, to spring forth and bear fruit for their salvation to the honor and glory of God. Amen."
